I started playing GW in september 2007. I used to be a WoW addict, but the game had kinda lost my interest. Being interested in magic etc I decided to make an elementalist which I named Magic Ling. The magic part seem pretty obvious to me, and the Ling part because wow players often called me a chinese farmer (and Ling sounded pretty chinese to me :P). I've played this character for about 16 months now and haven't been tempted to change class yet. Of course I've given the other classes a few tries, especially the monk was fun in PvP. Nothing comes close to the fun you can have with an ele though ^^ So far I've made it to the Gwamm rank and am currently focussing more and more on the social part of the game. I usually sit in our guild hall chatting with people instead of actually doing missions and quests. Hit me up if you want a chat :P

Well Hi
My name is Sorceress Magus and im the first Char my creator made....Im an ele and im sooo like to nuke people..watching them burn as they run away gives me a buzz.Im surprised i was ever made tbh as my creator wasn't really into this kinda game and her Hubby introduced her to it (well Xhubby ..don't ask touchy subject) but i heard her admit to her guildies shes kinda addicted..lol..I think she doesn't have much money as i don't seem to have much clothing on most of the time and she makes me dance for entertainment but shes kinda cool.I watched a comp in guru which was brill and even won a mini comp (what can i say ..im a star in the making) Ive kinda attached it...*blush.Well of course i wouldn't use the set its self but my fellow char "dont u mess with me" will as hes her first warrior.
all the best

Hmm, Last Christmas my Girlfriend bought the game to play with her in the sparetime when I was away on business trips.
I made a Character named Ubber Man in Prophecies, since that is a tag I had for years across many games. I made an Elementalist, and my girl helped me go through and I decided to be a monk secondary profession, I figure I can kill shit and heal myself, win win. So I ran around ascalon using Retirbution on all four of my teammates and always wondered why I never got anymore energy. This went on for about a month sitting there hoping retribution killed things.
I played through the game not knowing about elites and when I finally made it to droks I begged around for 5k and the materials to buy 1k armor, and then another 2k to buy red dyes at the trader.
Not until the fire islands did I realize you has attribute points to put into skills, that 50 damage flare sure beat the 5 damage.
He was the first character to get my obsidian on, and still to this day have the same 1k armor with random insignias on it, although not my main, the best character I got.
And my girlfriend dumped me a month after I started ;D
Happy Kwanzaa!

A Christmas Story
My first character I ever made was Elegost Stormrage, it was 2 years ago in december that i went to a christmas party at my cuzins. We played video games and stuff until i noticed the "Guild Wars Prophcies" case hanging out of the cabnit. So i asked them and they explained to my that the game didnt work on their computer and i could have it. so i took it home and installed it, when i finaly loaded up the game i thought I always choose rangers, maybe this time i should choose an elementilist. But i quickly tossed the thought aside and made a ranger. I leveled through propchies eggerly waiting to leave and when i finaly got to post i relized the game was bigger then i thought. I played through prochpies getting runs to yaks to LA joining guilds (leaving them of course :P) until the nightfall expansion came out. So after enjoying the game so much i had to get the nightfall expansion. I played through the nightfall expansion and made a whole bunch of characters along the way. But nothing beat Elegost. And now two years later i finaly got my Obby armor and Im almost done completing my ranger, even though i have 7 other chars my ranger is my favorite.
Merry Wintersday!

I was inspired by Ilfated Fat to post this, since I don't believe I have a chance to get the eternal set based to the colorful histories that have been provided for so many chars. But I still want this =).
My first character was named Tanya Grevious. She was a female war who was really short and very plain. I didn't like her much so i eventually deleted her. But that was my favorite character not because of her weapons or armor or even her appearance. I liked it because she was the one character that me and my bro shared when we first bought GW. Up until then, my bro was really distant to me because of a huge age gap, but then and there we found one game we could play together. I had a blast sharing the game with him until he eventually got his own account.
In light of deleting her, I made another character named Lady Grevious in her memory. Unfortunately I don't use her really and she acts as a mule.
I don't know how to paste pics =(.

I started playing 32 months ago.
My first character was a necromancer, i was looking through the instruction booklet at all the different classes, as my mum drove me home from EB games.
Anyway I remember either reading, or seeing a picture of a necromancer being able to raise minions. OH MY GOD! i could have an army of minions! that would be awesome! yep a necromancer is what i'll make.
so i start off choosing what i thought looked cool for a character, and of course having no idea what I was doing I made a lot of mistakes starting up.
I went /Me in presearing, thinking that arcane echo was an absolute skill of wonder. Well it took me, hmmmm near on 60 hours (maybe more) of playing to get him to 20, got stuck in places along the way. went for a long time without doing the 15 atrb. point quests. then factions comes out and my necro went in the corner for a while, but i brought him back in due time and placed him through factions, managed to finish off prophecies with him, got him elite luxon armor. made a little progress through NF and eotn with him, but during that time i made my ele, who is my main so my necromancer has drifted back into the corner

Lets see....my first character was a warrior named Dirty Panda. Made him a small as possible and grabbed necro as his secondary after I heard of these awesome things called minions. I mean a big strong warrior and his undead buddies bashing on you is pro amirite?
So needless to say I soon realized this was an awful idea and changed to /Mo when i reached the desert and proceeded to load my bar with mending and HH and the like to help myself reach new levels of awesome.
I still have that lil' guy, though my builds have gotten better (hopefully) and I don't plan on ever deleting him if for nothing else then just the many memories he represents, plus it helps remind me we were all noobs once, some (me) more than others though.
Happy Holidays and good luck to everyone

My first charactor was a W/N named Valdis Deathbringer, I wish I could change his last name. I bought the game 3 weeks after it came out, so he has been around for a long time. I have always been heavy into farming just about anything that would make me some $$$. Valdis has 3,664,446 XP and 173 unused skill points. He has completed Prophecies and Nightfall. I bought Factions about 8 months ago but got bored with it and quit playing, I recently have started playing again... so much has changed since I last logged on. Currently Valdis is wearing Primeval Armor with a Spatha and Crimson Carapace Shield... my FoW Spider farming equipment
It seems that all I did was farm but was always broke because guildies were in need and I liked to help them out. Whatever it takes to make friends happy... even if it's just in a video game.
Merry Christmas to everyone!!!!

first character:
Crystania Khaelzyr
1067AE, Season of the Scion
As written by Symon the Scribe of Ascalon:
The Khaelzyrs were a long line of merchant/alchemists stuck firmly in the middle class of Ascalon. Taltrus Khaelzyr, Crystania's father, was more of an alchemist than a trader, a fact that eventually led to his demise. Although the details of what transpired is a mystery, it is certain Taltrus was fiddling with alchemic forces outside of his realm of control. The resulting explosion of might and magic wiped out most of his family, physically and mentally scarring the remainder. Crystania survived, but with a touch of madness and prolific magical powers.
The fey magicks that Taltrus had unwittingly released did more than damage the survivors; it changed them. Through the course of a fortnight, the house's lone butler became as spun mist, fading into another plane of existence. One of their youngest maids gained formidable psionic powers; another simply grew an extra set of arms. Crystania was found shaking like a leaf, as if the magickal cyclone had threatened to extinguish her life spirit. There was more than met the eye to her condition however, she herself was colder than icy rain during the winter solstice. Although by all accounts Crystania should have frozen to death, in the course of a week her body returned to normal. Concurrent to her recovery, a startling change manifested in her appearance. Along with her eyes, her once long auburn hair faded into a light azure, her skin paling into alabaster. She was eventually given over to relatives of a more sorcerous persuasion.
Over the years, Crystania turned into an elementalist of great repute, not in small part to her childhood tragedy, if gossip is to be believed. Those who have worked with her, and who do not wish to be identified, say they never do feel comfortable around her, for within her eyes they sense a flicker of the insane magick that has been both a boon and a curse.

Luca Firestorm
He was born a long time ago (40 months to be precise). Luca managed to hone his skills in Ascalon where he mastered the spell firestorm. With this skill he dominated his adversaries for ages to come, for this was before fiends and foes evolved to run away from such spells. In fact, it must have been a long forgotten ancestor of Luca's that initially discovered it. After the searing he had a great amount of help from his friend, the veteran Rain E, who aided Luca to fight the Char and forewarned Luca not to enter the jungle. Instead they journeyed along the tropical coast eating drakes and imps. Luca then ascended by easily outsmarting his doppleganger and confronted the greatest beast known to mankind: the Dragon Glint. After a greuling battle, our hero and his comrades come out victorious. Once in the fire islands, Luca then learnt of two new powerful spells that played key roles in his life: meteor shower and elemental attunement.
From there, Luca spent his life aiding others in their ordeals and continued to strive to push the boundaries of humanity. Collaborating with a well known guild, he managed to defeat Kanaxi in less than half an hour. It is also known that he played a key role in the mastery of Shadow Form by elementalists. Any records of his life past this point are yet to be found.

Well, It all started a good 3 years ago,
Me being stupid, I made a female Ranger, and named her Lord Jeutie
My English was so bad, I didn't even notice that,
I continued playing and had loads of fun
My first birthday present?! Oh God, I was so happy with that Jungle Troll
The months come and go, and I finally managed to beat Prophecies
Then Factions cane out, A blessing... Cause I didn't even know what farming was,
So basicly I was done with Guild Wars I thought, Well after buying Factions & beating that...
Buying Nightfall and beating that, Buying EOTN and beating that xD
I already knew what farming was, but I didn't like it (And still don't)
Powertrading wasn't an option either, So I did some PVP and helped my guildies out
I was poor, But I managed to buy my first 15k armor, I was so happy
Also, My first Guild Wars event, was so cool, All these nice things happened to me on GW
I had this 'Pwning' build (The barrage/pet build) Yes, I was very newbish still after a year
Me and a few mates went to beat Urgoz, My first good drop! Urgoz Longbow
I still love the skin.
But, well I was kinda fed up that all the players in my Guild were so rich!
I didn't have more then 10k, But one of my rich Guild mates decided to give me fow
Dude, I was in shock! Fow armor, Me?!
Well, It all passed, And I'm still playing and enjoying Guild Wars
But, My Ranger doesn't do much any more aside trapping.
Yes, it's sad, But Guild Wars has more to offer then just 1 ranger
I made a new character, My monk...
Doing things original (NOT!) a small as possible monk'ie
With the most original name 'Omg I Healed Kenny'
I'm still busy to get her trough Nightfall...
Prophecies, Factions and EOTN are already done, Still I don't farm with her, And I'll never do...
She wears her Labyrinthine Armor which goes perfectly together with the Deldrimor weapons.
Having an Eternal Sword and Shield would be just awesome!
She would totally rock with it!
Also I made an Necro (Perma-Pre) first time I heard about that in 3 years
Her name is 'Omg I Cursed Kenny' I still have a lot to learn about perma-pre's but well...
She is level 10, and has already got her first Charr Bag, I'm so happy!
Wielding an Hourglass Staff she kicks all those charr asses!
Well, This was my story briefly (I could go on for hours ) I hope I have a chance winning this,
And my best wishes for all of you in 2009 (And in this contest too )

My first character was my assassin, a male sin. I just started around 9/10 months ago and almost deleted him as he just seemed to die all the time . it took a while to find the right build and now hes completed all campaigns and EotN. The next goal is to get some maxed titles as he only has one

My story is weird since it is all a big set of random events. So I got this game as present for well passed exams having no idea what this game was about. With opening the box the first shock came. It is an online one!? I decided to install internet connection just to be able to try it. It took two days and here I come. Second shock come when I had to name the character. I took character name randomly created in warhammer which I was using in many games and was unable to use it in gw since two words were needed.... So I added first letter of alphabet. So we have Shasgaliel A. Third shock came when I log in and noticed that those people running mindlessly around in pre-ascalon are not npc but real players...
Shasgaliel A had an extreme depression when he realized that he probably will be not a good soldier for sir Tydus and he will not help Ascalon, it came after being slain by a single river scale 3rd time in a row.... Now almost 4 years later he beaten everything which could be beaten in gw. And even today I still get pms why the hell I chose such a stupid name for my main character.

Love the stories in the thread so far, might as well share the story of my first character.
My first character was called "Mcullen The Archer", then I realised I missed a letter, deleted him and created "Mcmullen The Archer". As you can guess he's a ranger and has 41 months of experience under his belt, I had a firm idea in my head that he would have a warrior as his secondary profession so he could pull in enemies with his bow, then whip out a sword and go to town on the bad guys. At first, this dodgy attribute and skill spread worked (because you'd pretty much have to agro half of Ascalon to struggle with the first part of the game), and by some sort of miracle I even got as far as the crystal desert with this dodgy mix.
(clicky the thumbnail)
As you can see, my bar then consisted of skills from 4 different attributes (and I think I probably had points in expertise, which made it 5 attributes I put points into) yet I somehow soldiered on and made it to the southern shiverpeaks which is when I decided to ditch my sword and pet and put everything into marksmanship. I did however find something in the warrior skill-line useful, frenzy. At the time expertise effected all skills so I could spam it almost constantly, coupled with a newly acquired flatbow and the skill read the wind I was firing out arrows at stupendous speed from long range with no energy problems at all, then I got hit with spectral agony while under frenzy...
After that harsh lesson I took a cancle stance with me and made careful use of the skill.
When factions finally came about the first thing I did was take my ranger to AB, at the time many people were using assassins who had the skill Mirrored Stance in their default builds, I was still abusing frenzy at the time and was having great fun with assassins who used that hex on me.
(thumbnail again, using a PvP character instead though since my PvE ranger didn't have 200 attribute points at the time).
Another pic of my frenzy abusing times:
Eventually, expertise was nerfed so that the only non-ranger skills that were effected by expertise was attacks. Although it may not seem like such a big problem, it did cause some hefty energy problems when skills were spammed.
After that, I finally ditched the idea of using Frenzy and started to explore other secondaries.
Anyways, my ranger lived happily ever afterwards and didn't use any crappy builds ever again.

My first character is a warrior from prophicies back in 2005.
His name is Codin the Great. He is my favorite of all characters. He was given birth from Ascalon and was born a killer warrior to serve King Rurik(which i later find out he dies in prophicies.) He has completed every single campaign including EoTN. He loves great hikes on the beach jk :P. Ive played him most of the time rather than my other characters. he has been thru helping out the Kurzicks in Alliance battles(r5). For some reason melee is my favorite thing to do in every game. I like to be a beast and be the heavy duty man in every single game. This is my breif summary of my warrior.
idk if u need my IGN but here it is. Codin the Great
Good luck to all and HAVE A MERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

My first character was a monk. Not because i like to heal, or even to support a party, i saw a firend of mine make a W/Mo and i didnt want to copy him so i made a....you guessed right a Mo/W.
I was so happy when i found my first tactics shield so i could actually have some defense in the ascalon arena till lvl 10, i thought that was where the game ended for me. Until I dicovered there was an area passed Ascalon. It took me 20 tries before I got past The Frost Gate. But I didn't give up, I was going to show the world a monk with smiting and sword skills could kill stuff just as well as a warrior (I even never used henchies till i got to ruins of surmia).
Then by the time I got to the desert i found out monks are supposed to heal and could never get over 60 armor, I was so ticked off I made a warrior and completely ignored my monk.
I played every profession, finished entire campaigns with them, put most of them in elite armor and yet... something felt wrong. I dusted up my monk and now Mighty Galaxa has all the armour, skills and titles a monk could long for and she has by far the most hours played on.
I just love my monk!

My first ever character was a paragon, i still remember his name...Goku sjj four i started playing gw the first day nightfall came out, i had no idea what i was doing, first im like wait wtf? why does my guy have a skirt on, then i thought to myself, o well, its just the beginning, im gonna get pants sooner or later, so as i progressed through the game, i scraped up 2k, i remember i was in jokanur diggings, and said "Wtb good weapon" so im like ooo yeaaaa....so guy offered me a hammer, a green hammer, apparently worth crap and i didnt know...so i bought it, and realized later...paragons dont wear hammers...after i got done half way thru the game, i realized...i wasnt getting any pants..so i gave up with my paragon, deleted him, and created a derv...
